Welcome from the chair

Welcome from Chair of Governors

Thank you for visiting the Governor’s area of our school website.

It is with great pleasure on behalf of the Governors that I welcome you to St. Michael’s Voluntary Aided C of E Primary School.

At St. Michael’s Governors, staff, parents and children work together building on our success as a good school in a happy, creative, high attaining environment where everyone feels valued.  As governors we are justifiably proud of our children who develop not only academically but who also develop key skills to grow in confidence and self-esteem during their time at St. Michael’s.  The Governors would like to express their thanks to all parents who support their children so admirably.  In a good school such as ours, parents take a great interest in their child’s learning and development.

We have very close links with St. Michael and Mary Magdalene Church and the Oxford Diocese, as a C of E voluntary aided school. The Christian ethos pervades everything we do in school and our school values reflect this. The children’s spiritual and moral growth is an integral part our RE and PSHE curriculum.

Our role as Governors is to make sure that school objectives are met and that planning for the future is both aspirational and realistic.  We are here to support the Headteacher, Senior Leadership team and teaching staff so that our children have access to an enriched education and the opportunities they so rightly deserve.

The Governors work through three committees, Church School and Community, Curriculum and Effectiveness, Finance and HR, as well as carrying our individual roles to both challenge and support the school in achieving the very best for our children.

I feel privileged to be the new Chair of Governors at St. Michael’s School and to lead an experienced team who work hard to share their expertise to guide the school forward.  We all try to attend school events, so look out for us and please come and have a chat.  If you are interested in becoming a Governor please initially contact our Clerk of Governor’s, Mrs Melanie Saville in the school office.

Should you wish to contact me to discuss any matter further please do so via email at dianeallen2outlook.com or through our Clerk of Governors, Mrs Melanie Saville in the school office via email on clerkstmichaels@btinternet.com.
