Homework 15 May
Please could all children record their home address and a small map of whereabouts they live and the route they take to school in their homework books. It can be returned by Friday 22 May.
This is a little bit later this week as the children have been very busy at school with SATS and end of term tests. All SATS will be finished on Tuesday and there will be a Wednesday afternoon treat for them!
Enjoy the half term break!
SATs reminder for Year 2!!!
Testing will start this week and run over the next two and a half weeks with one or two tests being done each week.
Please ensure your child has eaten a good breakfast and rested well. That way they can concentrate and do their best.
This week is Maths, next week is a writing task and spelling and in the last week another writing task and the reading task.
Hopefully they all remain healthy and don't miss any tests, however, if they do we can always catch up on another day, so STAY CALM and DON'T PANIC!
For homework over this period there will only be a book review which is due in next Friday on the 15th May.
Welcome back to the new year. I like to call this term the "hard work" term! Children in year 2 will be focussing on their targets to achieve well in the upcoming SATs in the Summer and Year 1 have the opportunity to really develop and master some newly acquired skills in Literacy and Numeracy. We can also get busy in the afternoons focussing on Science and our topic work.
This term in Willows we will be mentoring a student teacher, Mr Keohane ( Mr Q to the children!)
His placement starts next Tuesday (27 Jan) and he will be with us until Easter. He is very keen and eager to get involved and an extra person will be so useful when it comes to small focussed group work.
Of course there is great excitement and some trepidation for Year 2 as they head down to the leisure centre for swimming on a Friday afternoon. Please ensure all kit and a change of underwear are packed in a bag for the day. Please check, wash and return the kit for the next Friday session. If any items are lost please let us know straight away so we can attempt to find and return them to you.
We are hoping to arrange a Victorian school day for all children in year 1 and 2 either just before, or just after Feb half term, so start hunting down some Victorian outfits for the day! You have been warned!!! Sadly Mr Davies won't be invited to dress up for this one!
We are also looking ahead to school trips for the Summer term and will keep you posted regarding outings for Year 1 and 2 linked to our Science curriculum of animals and their habitats. I came across a very interesting brochure from Chessington and will be looking into it.
Please ensure you keep checking bags for homework and read regularly with your child as this is so important. Thank you for your ongoing support and once again, for giving me the pleasure to teach such wonderful children. Mrs Batt and I leave school with a big smile on our faces (almost) every day!
This half term the children will be hard at work rehearsing for our nativity Stable Story. So far we have discovered some budding actors and actresses as well as some future pop stars and dancers!
keep checking the newsletter and Infant letters to see what your child is and needs for the show. Thank you.
