A warm welcome to the Governor’s area of our school website.
In our school, we strive to work in partnership for the ultimate benefit of our children and community. Our aim is to ensure our children, staff, parents and carers feel supported throughout their time with us and that every child is able to achieve their full potential.
Our school prides itself on children learning in a happy, caring and creative environment. We are a small school, however we take every opportunity to learn from others and share best practice.
Our role as Governors is to ensure that school objectives are met and that we have plans in place for a sustainable future. We provide support to the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and entire staff team both strategically and operationally to ensure that resources are available to meet the aspirational needs of all children. We oversee the schools’ financial position and support with HR as required (such as recruitment). We work closely within the Local Education Authority Framework and the Guidelines available from the National Association of Governors. As a Church School we are also accountable to the Parochial Church Council at St Michaels. Our structure is myself as Chair, with strong, effective support from Vice Chairs - Chris Fellows & Richard Sedding and a wider Governor team from a wealth of backgrounds with transferable skills.
We meet once per term as a Full Governing Body, and once per term through three sub-committees (Church School & Community; Curriculum & Effectiveness and Finance & HR). We are ably supported by a part-time Clerk to the Governing Body. We also have responsibility for specific areas around statutory and developmental requirements as well as ‘buddy’ links to individual classes. Every decision made is focussed around the best learning outcomes for every child. We are very fortunate to be part of a strong community and are well supported by parents & carers working towards our shared objectives.
If you are interested in becoming a Governor at our school, either now or in the future please do not hesitate to contact me for an informal discussion. I can be contacted via email email@example.com or through the school office, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Many of us are also on site at various times during the week and at specific events and can be identified by our Governor lanyards - if you would like to discuss any aspect of our work, then please do chat to us. Your views are very welcome.
