Pupil Premium funding is additional funding allocated to all schools to support disadvantaged pupils. St Michael’s Easthampstead receives pupil premium funding in line with certain criteria.  Please see our Pupil Premium Statement document below for more information.

The process for applying is straightforward and confidential, so please click here if you think you may be eligible. (Even if you choose not to have a school dinner, the pupil premium funding will benefit the pupil and the school).

What’s new?
The Department for Education has updated its guidance on Free School Meals (FSM) and Pupil Premium.
From the start of the 2026/27 school year, transitional protections are due to end, and eligibility will need to be checked again. Families will need to re-apply, so eligibility can be rechecked and your child (and school) don’t miss out on support.

Free School Meals

There will be two types of free school meal eligibility from September 2026:
1. Targeted Free School Meals

• Children from households in receipt of Universal Credit with annual household earnings of £7,400 or less will be eligible for Targeted FSM.
• In addition to receiving free meals, pupils eligible for Targeted FSM will attract Pupil Premium funding for their school.
• Households qualifying because they are in receipt of support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 will also be eligible for Targeted FSM.
• Households in receipt of Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, the guaranteed element of Pension Credit, or some families with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), may also qualify for Targeted FSM.

 2. Expanded Free School Meals

• Children from households in receipt of Universal Credit with annual household earnings above £7,400 will be entitled to Expanded FSM (meals only).
• Pupils eligible under Expanded FSM will receive free meals but will not attract Pupil Premium funding.

To ensure pupils receive free school meals from the start of the Autumn Term in September 2026, a new FSM application must be submitted for every child, even if they currently receive free school meals.
 

Universal Infant Free School Meals

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will continue to receive Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM). However, families are still encouraged to apply for FSM, as pupils eligible for Targeted FSM may also attract Pupil Premium funding for our school.
