ST MICHAEL’S EASTHAMPSTEAD
The aims of Homework are:

  1. To encourage self-discipline and personal organisation.
  2. To create additional time for relevant structured learning.
  3. To bridge the gap between home and school.
  4. To allow parents direct involvement in their child’s learning

See below the homework expectations for each class for the rest of the school year. These will be in place from 26th January.

As always, this is a guide and there may be changes in response to particular circumstances or events. Any queries please contact your class teacher.

Homework is an important part of your child’s school life. It is designed to consolidate existing skills or knowledge helping to ensure fluency in recall of number facts and spelling patterns.

Alongside specific activities it is vital that your child reads DAILY with an adult. This can be sharing a school reading book, a book from home for pleasure or being read to by an adult. The important part is the discussion around the book, comparing to similar texts, what they enjoyed or didn’t and why.

Teachers have also provided a homework grid of more creative tasks linked to their topic work this term. Children are encouraged to complete some of these tasks but there is no expectation that they do so. Clearly, many children enjoy this kind of additional learning but we do recognise that not all families have the time or capacity to complete these projects. All completed work will be shared with the class and more widely where possible.
