Every day after lunch we make reading a focus.  In the infants the children work with their teachers on their shared reading books linked to our phonics programme (examples of these books can be found here).  In KS2 the children have Reading Lessons based on Vipers (more information can be found here).  Three after lunch sessions and one English sessions are dedicated to teaching whole class comprehension strategies and decoding skills to groups of children as necessary.  For two sessions a week children read for pleasure during this time, fostering their love for reading and allowing for extended periods of reading.
