Summer 1, 2024
Happy Easter, Year 2 Maples, and Happy Summer!
We hope you all have a lovely Easter holiday, we can’t wait to welcome you back for the Summer Term!
Our Summer 1 topic is ‘By the Seaside' in which we will be learning all about the costal features of the UK in Geography, including some comparisons to Bracknell and overseas. We will be reading lots of different books this half term, including Traction Man, Traction Man at the Beach and Somebody Swallowed Stanley which will help us with our Science learning focused on Sustainability, Plants and Wildlife. We will be using these texts to help us write stories about toys coming to life and going on adventures! This will feed into our D&T project as we design and build fairground wheels! In ICT, we will be building on our previous programming knowledge as we use this to help us code animations. In Maths, as well as continuing to consolidate all our prior learning on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, we will also start to look at mass, capacity and fractions. In RE we will build on our prior Judaism knowledge as we explore the question: In what ways is the Synagogue important to Jews?
We are also delighted to welcome back Miss Johnson who will be teaching a lot more alongside and with Mrs Hillsdon & Mr Riordan!
