Summer 2, 2024
Welcome back, Year 2 Maples!
We hope you all had a lovely half-term break and welcome back for the last part of the Summer Term!
Our Summer 2 topic is ‘Historic Heroes' in which we will be learning all about the development of the Railway in History such as how it has transformed the way we live, amazing engineers such as George Stephenson and Isambard Kingdom Brunel, as well as looking at some other Historic Heroes in both living memory and beyond. We will be reading lots of different books this half term, including Great Britons by Imogen Russell Williams, Florence Nightingale by Little People Big Dreams, Brunel The Great Engineer and The Building Boy which will feed into our writing in English. This will feed into our D&T project as we design and sew textile train ticket pouches. In ICT, we will be building on our previous knowledge as we use the computers to create writing. In Maths, as well as continuing to consolidate all our prior learning from across Year 2 including completing time, we will also start to look at Statistics and Position & Direction. In RE we will build on our prior Judaism knowledge and world views as we explore the question: How do people know how to behave?
